Forgiveness

October 28, 2018 Speaker: Phil Kruis Series: 2 Corinthians

Topic: Sunday Morning Passage: Matthew 18:21–35

Main Point: The basis for our ability to forgive others comes out of an understanding of our forgiven-ness.

I. Forgiveness means a canceling of all debt.

II. Forgiveness is giving up the right for revenge.

III. Forgiveness does not mean that we condone the behavior.

IV. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting.

V. Forgiveness is not necessarily quick.

VI. Forgiveness is not the same as reconciliation.

Conclusion:

Questions to consider: Are there people in my life whom I have refused to forgive? In light of God’s forgiveness of me, how long can that offense go unforgiven?

Next week’s text: Eph. 4:32
