The Priorities of God’s People

1 Peter 2:4-10

Main point: God's people are a royal, holy priesthood and we have been saved by God to worship Him.

Introduction

I. The Priesthood of All Believers

     • The power of culture on human behavior has infiltrated the church.

     • Peter relates our life to that of the Lord Jesus—He is a living stone and we are like living stones.

     • Peter describes the individual believer as a living part of an entire household—the church.

II. God’s People Are Saved to Worship Him

     • Two key verses: 5 and 9 • Verses 4-10 are an “inclusio.”

     • C.S. Lewis: "What Peter sees here is that our praise and worship is the most perfect and complete expression of Love."
